Equilibrium - Equilibrium (demo)
Reviewed by Tomas Skjørestad in 7/16/2004
Equilibrium is a band i got to know a little bit better when i heard some samples From their (completely German) website, Which is a bit sad, But who cares anyway?
When you listen to samples like that, you feel you really need a copy of their selftitled demo, no matter how German it is. After receiving the demo and letting it spin through my cd-player a dusin times, i really start to wonder why such a band sits there without a record contract, Because this is really one masterpiece of a demo!
This is folk/viking metal how it really shall be done.
The intro Wigrid opens and i start to scent a majestic and epic little piece, And just when im feeling the chills down my back, Nach dem winter roars through the speakers with a grim and blasting intro, with a true scream in the true black metal vein.
And time and time again through my listening sessions on this demo, i am wondering more and more where the record companies are.
Open your eyes folks, This must be a money collector for you record folks out there. A track like Unter der eiche, is enough to sign this band,( What an intro on a song!!) And what a sound quality and production on the demo!
All rise for Equilibrium! And if you havent done it ; Order the demo from their website. A truly must for fans of Finntroll, Ensiferum, Moonsorrow, Bathory, and Dimmu Borgir as well. From what i also know they covered Dimmu Borgirs Classic Raabjørn spelar draugheimens skodde live once.
Rock on guys! Your future looks bright as hell!
