Viperine - The Predator Awakens
Reviewed by Jan F. Lindsø in 9/21/2004

Swedish Viperine is a band that probably is new for the most of you. And it’s actually their debut album. Though the band was formed in 2002, the guys have known each other much longer, as most of them played together on Winterlong’s debut "Valley of the Lost" which was released in 2001. Even though the quartet is Swedish they’ve released their record through the new Canadian label Metal-Rules Records.

The riffs are classic catchy heavy metal riffs, and the vocals are in the same vein as Manowar’s Eric Adams. The album isn’t that original, but still the songs are catchy and good, like for example "Like a Viper", "Heartblood", and "Fire, Wind and Rain". Unfortunately the lack of originality pulls the score down, but this release is definitely a must for fans of older Manowar.
