Pedestrians Of Blue - The Second Monologue
Reviewed by AJ Blisten in 8/20/2005
Norwegian hard rock band PEDESTRIANS OF BLUE doesn't rush thing. The band's first EP (or was it a demo/promo recording…? I don't remember…) was released in 2002. And now, three years later, is the second EP here. Only three songs on it, but definitely enough to show what this band is capable of.
There was a lot of potential and great musicianship on the debut EP and “The Second Monologue” is a convincing showcase of a self-confidence band that's developed remarkably since their debut. All three songs on here have probably everything you've got on your wish list if melodic pop approached hard rock with heavy & dark guitar riffs is your cup of tea. Usually I don't listen to music like this, but I like “The Second Monologue”, because the songs on this CD are well executed blend and in sync balance of heaviness and fine melodies. PEDESTRIANS OF BLUE is also a explorative band as they dare to surprise the listener with some creative stunts and I can't think of one single dull moment in their songs. The only thing I don't fancy too much is the vocals. I prefer it a little bit rougher and a lesser pop oriented. The vocalist is a good singer, no doubt about that, but I think that a more rock oriented and rougher singer would fit in better with songs on this album.
Anyway, “The Second Monologue” a big step ahead for the band and I expect that a serious record label offers PEDESTRIANS OF BLUE a decent contract very soon. These guys deserve it!
