Communic - Waves Of Visual Decay
Reviewed by Nash Rothanburg in 5/17/2006

Oddleif has done it again, made on of Norways best albums so far this year. May I even dare to say the best album that will hit the streets this year, not matter what natinonality? Yes, I dare say so.

Everybody speaks about "the difficult second album", but really, what is the fuzz? For me the second album always represents something new from a band. They are allowed to evolve and differ in the style from their first album. Oddleif and his COMMUNIC has changed, not alot, just to the better. Their first album, "Conspiracy In Mind" was faster, more speedy and had a twitch more thrash in it. "Waves Of Visual Decay" has a more progressive undertune to it all, in fact, the mainpart of the songs is buildt up from a slow start with catchy groovy progressive tunes. The first two songs is excluded from that rule, with their aggressive-progressive groove all the way. Some even has the nerve to call them the albums "hardest-songs-to-get", whitch I don't understand anything of. Those two songs represent a mixture between COMMUNICs first album and "Visual Waves Of Decay", thrashy and progressive.

When I mention COMMUNIC it is hard to not mention Seattles finest band;that Oddleif sounds like a duplicate of Warrel Dane, but Oddleif has a more smooth and "natural" voice, which again makes it a more soothing listen.
And as long as Warrel is top five on in the world of vocalists, then Oddelif is also there, because more Warrel than Warrel himself is hard to find. We all love it too: a band that plays Nevermore-ish metal with a Nevermore-ish vocalist, though a slightly more symphonic approach, it must be a musiclovers dream?! What an album, what music without being a rip-off (not even near it...but it has a strong resemblance) and what a band.

This is already one of this years albums! No doubt at the score here!
