Satyros - A Day Of Rain
Reviewed by Linn-Elise Jenssen in 1/13/2010
SATYROS is a melodic black/death metal band from Germany, formed in 2005. It's a band consisting of three guys and their first album called “Resurrection Of The Storm” was released in 2007.
“A Day Of Rain,” is a homemade four tracks promo from 2009, produced, mixed, and mastered by the bassist/guitarist in the band, Andreas Reinauer. Well, "Purify", that’s what it is! Purification of the ear canals. A bad idea if you’re having a headache, but this is the way I like it; noisy and penetrating. I fell in love with the picking in “Traumhallen.” This small effect makes me remember the song together with the vocal with this raspy personal touch. “Traumhallen” has got a dynamic and slow sound picture with clear guitar tones.
SATYROS uses the right setting and the catchy elements and that's why they manage to make an unforgettable death metal experience out of this track. I above all I like the last song “Lost In Grey" on this promo CD, with it’s beautiful end. To mention one thing that is a pity is the band's use of programmed drums. I miss a little more “Power”, coming from double bass drums performed by a real drummer... Although there’s no drummer in flesh and bones in SATYROS, the music is capable, anyway.
I really got curious about SATYROS “A Day Of Rain.” This is like “The Beauty And The Beast.” It’s the small effects, the synth, the finger play, and the atmosphere, which makes me want to taste the rest… So, watch out for SATYROS new upcoming album “A Day Of Rain.” It'll be worth the wait!
Thumbs Up!
