A Tortured Soul - Lucifer's Fate
Reviewed by Eddie Risdal in 8/25/2010

This American five piece, hailing from Milwaukee, don't look much forward other than releasing new albums. Musically they base more or less everything on already trodden paths, not that there is anything wrong in that as long as it is done tastefully and with quality. "Lucifer's Fate" is the band's third release since the debut in 2005. Through a long intro and eight songs we are presented some well played, well composed and well produced heavy metal. No more, no less. Like few others do today, at least at this high level. Clear references are of course Mercyful Fate and King Diamond, both musical wise and often vocalist Rick Black does the same high pitch singing as the king has as his trademark. The best example on this is on one of my favourite tracks, "Dark Chapel", which displays great variations in both guitar structures and vocal arrangements.

There are no fillers on the album, and although the quality varies it is a majority of really good songs to be found here. I don't think any deeper analyze is required other that a recommendation to check out A TORTURED SOUL if you like heavy metal like it was in the eighties.
